And (I'm a physicist trying to justify sitting in this degree waiting for the time to come to do philosophy AND psychology ones (amongst others). Does it show?

Of course I do, since our understanding of things gets better the longer we're alive, and the longer we've been a race. Maybe understanding is like entropy: it will always tend to increase, but given that energy is put in to decrease it (going against what's true tends to take effort - often unseen, but effort nonetheless). Thus it can decrease, but doesn't like to. I think people quantise their heads often: in deciding that something's right, and it's right full stop, they won't allow any other values (eigenvalues, to be penickity) to exist. Thus, we've quantised ourselves. It then takes energy to move quantum states, and the longer we remain of that opinion, the further away the state we're in gets from the other states - cue expansion of the universe those states exist within. Thus it takes more energy to jump between them, and change that opinion to gain in understanding. So, maybe understanding is a complex thing. Complex as in imaginary numbers? Who knows..."
